        Tanzanian Wildlife Protection Workshop (2019) Kicks off in BFU

            The Tanzania Wildlife Protection Workshop (2019)kicked off in Beijing Forestry University on the morning of October 10, 2019. The workshopis entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce of China to BFU, aiming to promote exchange and cooperation in national park construction, wildlife protection and community management between China and Tanzania. Xu Qiangxing, Deputy Director of Foreign Cooperation Project Center of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and Li Xiong, Vice President of Beijing Forestry University attended the event. Twenty trainees from Tanzania attended the opening ceremony.

            Xu Qiangxing delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that in the current context of the ”°Belt and Road”±Initiative, with the help of the training platform, cooperation between China and Tanzania in wildlife protection and other fields will be more closely linked to further enhance wildlife protection and management.

            Li Xiong extended a warm welcome to the participants of the workshop and briefed them on BFU. He said that the University is willing to strengthen exchange with Tanzania in natural protection, learn from each other and bridgestronger bilateral cooperation.

            Kilili Ashashahaban, on behalf of Tanzanian trainees, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce of China and BFC for initiating this workshop, and briefly introduced the current situation of wildlife protection in Tanzania. She hoped that through the training, she could learn more about Chinese experience in wildlife protection.

            It is reported that this workshop, lasting for 21 days, is undertaken by outstanding experts and professors from the School of Ecology and NatureConservation of BFU along with other institutions and organizations including Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Forestry, WetlandsInternational, etc.The workshop is to be conducted in various forms such as lectures, discussions, symposiums, field research and on-the-spot inspections, to ensure the expected effects of the workshop.

            The opening ceremony is presided over by the director of the International RelationsOffice, and attended by the administrators in charge of the School of Ecology and NatureConservation of BFU.
